Ergodyne's Latest Gear Drop Is Designed To Make Winter Work For You

St. Paul, Minnesota, Oct. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For those who work outside or in deep-freeze environments, the cold is more than an inconvenience. It makes the work you normally do harder and more dangerous. Slips and falls. Low visibility. Constantly shifting temps. It’s a lot to think about when all you really want to do is get through your day without freezing up.

The tricky part is winter hits different everywhere—and it doesn’t have to be a record-setting low to take a toll. According to OSHA’s Cold Stress Guide, “Hypothermia is most likely at very cold temperatures, but it can occur even at cool temperatures (above 40°F), if a person becomes chilled from rain, sweat or submersion in cold water.”

No matter what you call “cold,” winter is a proving ground that reveals what you—and your equipment—are made of. The right gear has to do more than keep you warm. It has to keep you focused, productive and safe, even as conditions change.

“Winter wear and winter gear are different,” says Claudia Weber, Ergodyne Product Manager. “A down-filled puffer is great for a short ski run. But for long shifts in frigid temps, you need purpose-built gear designed to work with the demands of the job and the required PPE—plus whatever else the cold throws at you.”

That’s the thinking behind Ergodyne’s 2026/2027 Winter Product Bundle, a new collection of thermal gear designed to help workers block out the wind, lock out the moisture and make better use of the body heat they naturally generate on the job.

“Your body works hard to generate heat, and we respect that,” Weber continues. “That’s what led us to ampliFIRE, a proprietary technology that helps you hold onto more of that warmth.”

AmpliFIRE™ technology uses aluminum insulation to reflect and retain body heat rather than wasting it. A proprietary TriHex pattern keeps the liner flexible and breathable so that no effort—or heat—is wasted. It’s a proven and preferred technology Ergodyne has previously used in winter workwear, and the 2026/2027 collection expands its application further.

Leading the charge is the GloWear 8390X X-Back Hi-Vis Winter Jacket. Rated to -55°F (-48°C), depending on activity level, it combines an ampliFIRE™ lining with 180g of insulation in the body of the coat and 140g in the sleeves. A wind- and water-resistant 300D polyester shell, fleece-lined collar, rib-knit cuffs, elastic waist and long tail help keep the elements where they belong. Out. The ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 Type R, Class 3 jacket also features a reflective X-back design to make a worker’s direction of movement instantly recognizable, even as mornings get darker and days get shorter.

The new N-Ferno 6835 Winter Hard Hat Liner takes the same heat-retaining approach from the worker’s core to their head. Its low-profile, two-layer design easily integrates with hard hats and safety helmets while providing coverage for the head, ears and neck. A fleece forehead panel, angled back panel and extended length help close common gaps in coverage, while built-in ear pockets accommodate optional warming packs when conditions get particularly frosty.

Those details matter, because even small gaps in cold-weather PPE can undermine an otherwise solid system. Ergodyne’s broader winter lineup is built around adaptability—layering, adjustable coverage, supplemental warmth and PPE compatibility that help workers respond as temperatures, tasks and exposure change throughout the day.

The company’s winter collection includes new headwear and outerwear alongside an established range of warming, visibility and cold-weather protection solutions.

“Winter is going to do its worst either way,” Weber concludes. “Might as well make it work for you.”
